Over summer 2019 we worked with the local youth group to develop a science trail for families to follow around the village park over the holidays.
Families had to follow clues and a map to find a series of hidden boxes each containing a mini science activity to do, a stamp to mark the trail and a log book to sign. Once they’ve completed the trail they received a goodie bag of summer treats.
The trail ran during the Mid Sussex District Council’s Play Days on Tour event and we had over 130 people taking part.
“We really enjoyed this trail. Even I learned something new and my 5 yr old enjoyed following the map and trying the experiments” (Parent/ carer)
The youth group were instrumental in deciding on trail content and testing out ideas. And as a community project we were funded through a local charity the Turner-Dumbrell Foundation and supported by the Parish Council.
